Innovative use of mobile devices in the educational process
6th Short-term joint staff training events, Focșani, Romania
“Mobile devices- another kind of scientific tool”
From 23 to 27 of April 2018, the sixth Short-term Joint Staff training events were held in Focșani, Romania. Our host was Technical College ”Edmond Nicolau”. The theme of the meeting was “Mobile devices-another kind of scientific tool”.
The event was designed to cover teachers training and workshops on different methods of using mobile devices in classroom (practice training about specific method that can be used, debate about formal and informal use of mobile devices in classrooms, theoretical concepts, proposals, lesson plan about integrating mobile devices as a tool in different context).
Teachers have experienced on using real-time collaboration tools, feedback or evaluation/auto evaluation using online tools, complex online platforms, surveys and questionnaires/tests, online lesson plans maker.
Apps like Symbaloo, with SymbalooEdu and Symbaloo Learning Path, Linoit, Tricider, Flipgrid, were introduced for teachers’ use, to be compared with the students, facilities offered by the same apps. Complex platforms, like Twiddla, Awwapp, - Learningapps, Classflow, Learning Designer or EasyClass were introduced as digital ways for collaboration and work. In the same time, it was the perfect opportunity for informal debate regarding the advantages and disadvantages of using such platforms, the limits and benefits, technical conditions or necessary regulations.
Visits to the University ”Dunărea de Jos” and Astronomical Observatory of Galati, and to Seismological Observatory "Dr. Cornelius Radu", Vrâncioaia, have completed the presentation of digital practical applications and their use through mobile devices.
The trip under this slogan was the opportunity for teachers to receive information about Romanian contribution to WWI in general and of Mărășești, and Mărăști battles in particular. Like the visits of some of sightseeing in Focsani, these activities were part of “Romania 100”, the celebration the 100th anniversary of the Great Union, the creation of the Romanian unitary state, and the end of the First World War. During the sixth mobility, besides workshops and trainings, teachers have participated to cultural activities, like show of students from Art High School ”G.Tattarascu” or ”Țara Vrancei”, who started and ended the event.
