We are a state school in which there are Classic and Scientific Liceo, with about 420 students and a technical school for accountancy and tourism, with about 180 students. In the Classic Liceo students specialize in subjects such as Latin, Greek, Humanities, Philosophy, in the Scientific Liceo they specialize in subjects such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Science, in the Technical school they study Accountancy, Law,  two foreign languages. All students in the school study English as compulsory foreign languages and take Cambridge certifications, but optional language courses are available and they take also certifications in the other languages (Spanish, French, German). This has been the first year for our school to be a Cambridge school, in which two subjects, both in “Liceo Classico” and “Liceo Scientifico” are studied also in English.

In our school students and teachers use the new technologies for each kind of lesson they have. There are multimedia interactive boards in all classrooms, as well as projectors. We teach to students the basic skills of new technologies (WITH REGULAR CERTIFICATION by certified trainers). Our students participate also regularly in projects such as informative seminars on the safe use of the internet, projects on addiction to social media  on the part of specialized personnel. Regarding the use of ICT, our school has been funded for a so-called Class 2.0, that now is in the 5th form, that, through the use of tablets, learns trying to reinforce the creative use of ICT in tecahing and learning process. Of course we have the internet connection on each computer for different purposes and special ICT classrooms. Teachers always follow courses on the use of ICT; last year teachers and students have attended courses on the topic. Our students use Google drive, Prezi, Padlet and Popplet to share information, and create presentations.

The CLIL methodology is regularly adopted, since , according to the Ministry of education, our students in their final examinations have to show their skills in a subject taught in English, that is usually Maths; they do that in the three years before their final examinations. Our teachers participate to English and Clil courses on a regular basis;, inside or outside the school, sometimes held by the Ministry of Education;  last year at our school we had an English course for teachers and a Clil course

Our students like studying English and they are fluent; we have had a long experience in Comenius projects and class exchanges, in which they have the opportunity to speak English, with almost all countries in Europe , from the Netherlands, the UK, Belgium, Germany, Spain, Turkey, Poland, Romania, Greece to Portugal, regarding a lot of subjects, from Latin, to Science, to Information Technology. We also carry on other projects that are transversal, such as the IMUN, Italian Model United Nations, in which the students attend lessons in English and then act a simulation of the Delegates at the United Nations , and in this way they learn Team Work, Public speaking and how to debate. We also have a yearly twinning with a school from Kyoto in which students exchange their cultural features and lifestyles. They really like coming in touch with the other cultures and the exchange projects are one of the best ways to do that, since you can know and appreciate the other's differences through the use of a common language and they also improve their English.
