TOKİ Halkalı Anatolian Religious High School is a vocational high school of about 1151 students aged between 15 and 18. Our school is in İstanbul, which is the cradle of ancient civilizations and also a bridge connecting the mystic atmosphere of Asia and the modern vision of Europe. As known worldwide, İstanbul is the heritage of Byzantine and Ottoman Empires, so there are plenty of tourist attractions and unique pieces of Art, Architecture and History.

Situated on a busy point of geographical line, it attracts thousands of scientists, students, enterprisers and explorers,artists of modern world and thus it can be regarded as open gate of multicultural and intercultural educational facilities.

One of the leading districts of İstanbul metropolitan is Küçükçekmece, a district breathing its deep history. It was established around Küçükçekmece, the lake. Our school Toki Halkalı Anatolian Vocational High School is located in Halkalı, Küçükçekmece. It was opened as General High School in 2011 but later turned into Religious Vocational High School in 2012. It consists of three floors and it contains 40 classrooms, two science labs, a library, a movie theatre, a conference hall, two canteens, a sports hall, a dining room, two prayer rooms and a garden. The number of teachers is 75 and the number of students is 1151.Our school is Anatolian İmam Hatip High school; so we have classes on Religion, Science, Social Sciences, ICT, Linguistics (English,Arabic and French for Language classes) and PE. We have many social clubs and each club must have its own community service project. Especially Social Soldarity Club takes an  active role in school life. It motivates students to learn to help each other and the people in need. In this frame each year the member students of this group organizes charity work for students who are in different cities, visit the children in the hospitals, etc…

Our school also gives importance to sports activities. We have basketball and volleyball teams for both girls and boys. They compete in the tournaments in Küçükçekmece and İstanbul. Students take place in table-tennis tournaments, too. Music is inevitable for the students. We have school chorus .

Our High School education lasts for 4 years. At the end of grade 12, students sit for  the university entrance examination to study Law, Medicine, Science, Linguistics and Faculty of Theology.

As ELT  teachers, we would like to support our professional development in education, training and youth with an innovating view and improve our quality of teaching, training and youth work across Europe via technology. Our school has had a Wi-Fi connection which is in progress as the result of the project called “Fatih Project” carried out by Turkish Ministry of National Education. Each class has a smartboard to use technology directly and follow new technologies and refreshed ideas and to apply innovations in the classroom. Besides, some students who are in grade 11 and 12 have tablets delivered by means of Fatih Project.

EBA (Web of ICT) is a kind of platform which is especially used by teachers and students. It was set up in order to provide new materials and to share observations, experiences effectively in favour of education. All members have opportunity to interact with other members whose professional experiences vary. The participants can also encourage their colleagues to do similar activities or projects.
